A delegation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) held a meeting with the Azerbaijan Industrial Safety Association (AISA). The discussions focused on the development prospects of green construction in Azerbaijan and the support IFC can provide in this field.

The delegation was led by Yohannes (Han) Herder, IFC’s Chief Economist for Europe, and Irina Kokaia, Operations Specialist. The meeting was also attended by Türkan Səfərəliyeva, Deputy Chairperson of AISA’s Board, and Elgün Səfiyarov, Head of the Construction Safety Committee.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the next steps of the “Green Buildings Roadmap”, prepared by the Government of Azerbaijan with IFC’s support in November 2024, as well as the role of the private sector in sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.

The participants also discussed potential areas of collaboration to support Azerbaijan’s green transformation in the construction sector through IFC’s advisory services. Assessment of current and future market demand for green construction was highlighted as a key focus.

Both AISA and IFC expressed their interest in continuing mutual cooperation to expand sustainable construction initiatives in the country.
